Homocysteine Plus™ provides methylating agents and co-factors that may help maintain normal levels of homocysteine, an amino acid that may impact on cardiovascular health.
Homocysteine is normally present in the body and efficient metabolism of this amino acid is important in order to maintain the integrity of blood vessels and support collagen formation. There are two processes in the body that play a vital role in homocysteine metabolism – methylation to methionine and condensation into cysteine.
Methylation is a metabolic process that involves adding methyl groups and converting homocysteine to useful methionine and SAMe that the body can use.
Homocysteine Plus™ also provides TMG, an excellent source of methyl groups, plus folic acid and vitamins B6 and B12 which act as synergistic co-factors and are involved in the proper functioning of methylation enzymes.
